How did you come up with the subject for your novel?
I wanted to do a story that took place in a world famous hotel with a historic past and blend it with my love for fashion. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City was the perfect choice. Founded by a fascinating family, who also influenced the fashion world at the hight of the Gilded Age.
What genres do you love to write in?
For this novel, my genres blend history, romance and mystery.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Currently: Dan Brown (DaVinci Code), Stieg Larsson (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy), Robyn Carr (Hidden Summit) , Laurie Alice Eakes (Lady in the Mist),
When you’re not writing what do you spend your time on?
Thinking about editing what I’ve just written.
What’s your favorite color?
Fall is my favorite color.
One often hears writing is a lonely profession. How do you combat that?
I do my best work in utter silence. I need to morph into each character and scene, in order to feel their emotions. But I break up the day with a long walk (5K) to recharge (when it’s not 90 degrees out). Currently I’m writing 5-6 days a week full time, so it’s important that I balance off time with family and plan getaways with my husband to recharge.
